Main Hull seams ready

- Πραγματικά πολύ δουλειά στο κεντρικό σκάφος. Κολλήθηκαν όλες οι ενώσεις, μπήκαν ταινίες, έγιναν διορθώσεις κλπ. έως ώτου τελειώσει αυτή η φάση εργασιών. Αρκετά πράγματα δεν ήταν προγραμματισμένα και χρειάστηκε φαντασία για να διορθωθούν. Τέλος δοκίμασα και την λευκή χρωστική για την εποξική ρητίνη.

- Really hard work the central hull. Sealed all seams, fiberglassing,  were corrections etc. until to finish this stage of work. Several things were not planned and it took imagination to be corrected. Finally i tested the white pigment mixed with epoxy resin.

Κεντρικό σκάφος - Main Hull

- Σήμερα ήταν η σειρά του κεντρικού σκάφους να κολληθεί στις ενώσεις και να τοποθετηθεί ταινία fiberglass. Πριν από αυτό όμως, το amas που είναι στραβό δέχτηκε επιδιορθώσεις.
Επίσης στα amas έγινε και τεστ στεγανότητας, ρίχνοντας 1,5 λίτρο νερό μέσα και ψάχνοντας για τυχόν   διαρροές. Βρέθηκαν 2 μικρές διαρροές, στις 2 πλώρες αντίστοιχα και επιδιορθώθηκαν.

- Today was the turn of the central hull to seal the seams and placed fiberglass tape. Before that though, the ama are crooked accepted repairs.
Also in amas became dryness  test, dropping 1.5 liter water in and looking for leaks. Found 2 small leaks, 2 bows respectively and both repaired.

2nd Ama

- Το δεύτερο ama είναι κι' αυτό έτοιμο. Έχουν γίνει τα γεμίσματα με στόκο και όλες οι ενώσεις με ταινία fiberglass. Το μόνο πρόβλημα που αντιμετώπισα είναι ένα μικρό στρίψιμο της πρύμνης του 1ου πλωτήρα, περίπου 1-2 μοίρες δεξιά. Προσπάθησα να το φέρω με ξύλα κόντρες, αλλά δεν είναι απόλυτα ίσιο. Ελπίζω να διορθωθεί με το deck.

- The second  ama  is ready. Have become fills with putty and all seams sealed with fiberglass tape
The only problem we encountered was a little twist aft end of the first float, about 1-2 degrees right. I tried to fix it up, but still not completely straight. I hope while putting the deck will fix the twist.

Fiberglassing seams

- Ότι λέει ο τίτλος...όλη μέρα σήμερα ανακάτευα εποξική με σκληρυντή και Microfiber για να φτιάξω στόκο και να κλείσω όλες τις ενώσεις των πάνελς αλλά των bulkheads. Το περίμενα πιο εύκολο, αλλά ειδικά στην πλώρη ήταν σχεδόν αδύνατον να δουλέψω λόγω έλλειψης χώρου. Με τον εποξικό στόκο ακόμα υγρό πέρασα και ταινία fiberglass 195 gr. σε όλες τις ενώσεις και ειδικά στα bulkheads εμπρός και πίσω. Στη συνέχεια περίμενα λίγο να στεγνώσει ο στόκος και με καθαρή εποξική εμπότισα την ταινία ώσπου να γίνει πλήρως διαφανής.
Και όλα αυτά για το ένα ama.!!!!!!!! Αύριο το επόμενο.

- That title says ... all day today mixing epoxy with hardener and Microfiber to make putty to fix and seal all seams but the bulkheads. Expecting it easier, but especially in the bow was almost impossible to work due to lack of space. With epoxy putty still wet passages and tape fiberglass 195 gr. all compounds and especially in bulkheads front and rear. Then wait a little putty to dry and clear epoxy wetting out the tape until it becomes fully transparent.
And all this for an ama.!!!!!!!! Tomorrow the next.LOL

Κατασκευή amas - Building Amas

- Τις 2 τελευταίες μέρες δουλέυω πάνω στα amas. Τα πάνελς δοκιμάστηκαν μαζί (δεμένα με  μερικά tie wraps) προκειμένου να σχεδιαστούν και να κοπούν τα νέα bulkheads, έπειτα από τις αλλαγές που έγιναν στο σχήμα τους.
Μία ακόμη μεγάλη αλλαγή σε σχέση με το μοντέλο υπο κλιμακα, είναι ότι δεν θα υπάρχει ίσιος πάτος, αλλά ένα βαθύ V που θα σχηματιστεί με την τεχνική του tortured plywood και βεβαίως stitch & glue.

Στις φωτό φαίνονται οι πρώτες δοκιμές και στο τέλος μερικά από τα bulkheads τοποθετημένα στη θέση τους καθώς και το ράψιμο με tie wraps. Αύριο θα ετοιμαστεί το 2ο ama και θα βγούν τα bulkheads και θα καλυφθούν με 2 χέρια εποξικής.

- The last 2 days I worked on the amas. The panels were tested together (tied with some tie wraps) in order to design and cut new bulkheads, after the changes made in their shape.
Another big change compared to the scale model is that there is no straight bottom, but a deep V to be formed with the technique of tortured plywood and of course stitch & glue.

The images show the first tests and end some of the bulkheads seated and sewing with tie wraps. Tomorrow we prepare the second ama and will go out the bulkheads and covered with 2 coats of epoxy.

πλωτήρες - amas epoxy coating

- Εφαρμόστηκαν 2 χέρια εποξικής ρητίνης στην εσωτερική πλευρά των πλωτήρων (amas) και κάποιες ρυθμίσεις στην πλώρη.καθώς επίσης κολλήθηκαν τα gunwales

Τώρα η πλώρη έχει αρκετό "ψωμί" τόσο στο πάνω μέρος όπου θα μπούν το jib και τα λοιπά inox, όσο και μπροστά που μπορεί να δεχτεί χτυπήματα.
Οι φωτό είναι από το 1 χέρι εποξικής.

- Did 2 coats of epoxy resin on the inner side of the floats (amas) and some settings on the bow and also gunwales glued to the panels.. Now the bow has enough "meat" both at the top where you attach  the jib and other rigging, and in front you can get hit.
Photos shows the 1st coat of epoxy.

- Μερικές photos από τις εργασίες που έγιναν στο σκάφος, κυρίως στα amas αλλά και στην κεντρική πλώρη.
Σημείωση : το butt joint δεν επέτρεπε την ελαστικότητα του πάνελ και έτσι έπρεπε να βρώ μια λύση. Αυτή με τις οριζόντιες τομές στο joint (όπως φαίνεται στη φωτό) επιτρέπει αφενός την ενίσχυση της ένωσης των πάνελς αλλά και το flex που απαιτείται για την κατασκευή.

Note: The butt joint does not allow the flexibility of the panel, so I had to find a solution. This with horizontal incisions in joint (as in photo below) would both strengthen the seams and the flex needed for construction.
